It’s fair to say that writing instruments are one of the oldest tools in the history of known mankind. You can imagine that they’re still used today by almost every person old enough to draw… even if they’re drawing pictures in the sand. Bets are that most of us use some type of ink, gel, or graphite filled tube… aka pens or pencils, two write. Take a look around… we rely on them so much we keep them littered around our desks, office cabinets, automobiles, purses & bags, jacket pockets, and especially in one of those junk drawers at home.

In brand marketing, you’re always looking for the right idea, preferably unique, that you can use to put in front of your potential and existing customers in order to keep “you” on their minds. And you want to be on their mind frequently! Do that by creating a brand your target market associates with, respects, and desires to make a part of their life. Then give them great reasons to keep that brand in front of them. If your market loves your brand, they’ll make it a part of their identity (even if it’s a sub-par product or service). We could get into psychographic marketing here, however we’ll invite a specialist to share with you on that topic. For now, we’ll focus on putting your brand on a writing instrument.

So why do it? Friends, we encourage you with a passion to use writing instruments as a primary step in your brand marketing plan. You already know that nearly everyone uses them, and since your market is mostly likely within the group of “everyone”, get a branded pen or pencil.

Pass on the “well everyone else is doing it so I’m not going to…” objection. That wouldn’t work for radio, tv, internet, or even developing a logo, and it doesn’t work here. Like any other promotional product (or any marketing), it’s not the product/medium that makes a brand or ad work, it’s the message. Yes of course products and media make a difference, however the effectiveness of the ad to convey its intended messages is primary! You can take the coolest gadget in the world and put a poor message on it… people will love the gadget and still have no clue what the brand is. You can also take a stick pen with the most clever brand or ad that your customer loves and it will become a keepsake. Socially odd? Yes! A reality? Yes!

So have fun, be clever, and get your brand on a pen (or pencil)! Yes they’re one of the most popular items in the world of brand marketing, so why not make yours the best of the best! Your options are nearly limitless when you consider quantity, style, quality, function, feature, and color. Whether you think you’re ready or not, send us a note, and we’ll help you get things rollin’!

Create a great day!
